The race committee at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda was confident in the forecast of strong winds from the west, and informed the 93 boats that they would be competing on an Island Long Race that would take them through the legendary Bomb Alley and between the starkly beautiful islands of Caprera and La Maddalena.
