Editor's Comments: Signs of Show Season Ahead

It is a universally acknowledged notion that the one-month run up to show season acts as the doldrums of annual industry activity; where the chance to break away is taken and announcements are kept close to the chest in sight of big unveilings across Cannes, Monaco and Fort Lauderdale. This week, however, has offered up a number of interesting insights of complete contradiction.

Today, sneaking in as the announcement of the week, was the delivery of PLVS VLTRA; the first AMELS 242 superyacht. Moran Yacht & Ship - having sold, overseen and helped deliver the 74 metre superyacht - announced the story, showing me that August isn’t always as glacial as I thought. In another report from the international brokerage house, on the same day, a 33 metre Hakvoort was sold and introduced to a new owner. Pretty much driving the last nail into my aforementioned theory.

Another striking announcement was the launch of Spain’s largest pedigree superyacht, and while I wholeheartedly agree with our followers that Naia, ex Pegaso, is the largest Spanish-built superyacht; the distinction lies in the detail. Maybe is the largest superyacht ever conceived, designed and built in Spain, and an incredibly exciting debut for the Monaco Yacht Show.

Denison Yacht Sales, who this week sold the 36 metre One O One and invited us to take a closer look at the stunning superyacht Swan, also drove the notion of a busy week further while Canados launched their first entry-level explorer yacht, and the first yacht since new management.

On a side note, I would like to personally thank all our followers on social media and online after we reached 14k on Twitter and are constantly being kept on our toes by Captains sharing their exciting journeys with us on Instagram.
