This 90-metre explorer yacht has been created for an owner who wants to go to the furthest reaches of the blue planet
The 90-metre Ice Class Taboo concept has been created by Gill Schmid Design from New York in collaboration with Tim Dempers Studio from Cape Town. On board features to keep the owner’s party entertained include a plane, a helicopter, a submarine, an amphibious car, a supercar, and a hot-air balloon, as well as traditional tenders.
On deck and interior features include a night club, alfresco banqueting, and a dual-level beach club around a glass pool, lined either side with aquariums. The designers say the spaces have been imagined with flexibility in mind, so that open party areas can quickly be converted to something more intimate. An interesting feature of the striking exterior styling is the white glazing around the panoramic owner’s and VIP suites and the lounge spaces. Taboo’s double-height tender bay features an A-frame lifting arrangement, and allows for helicopter landing with a retractable, enclosed helicopter garage.
The interior continues the theme of adaptability, with the two-deck guest lounge/pool space and beach club with a full-height pool located on the main and upper deck. There is an extensive guest gym and spa area, a cocktail lounge, and a ‘summer house’ aft. There will also be a casino on board. She offers a spacious full-deck owner’s suite with private offices, lounge and outdoor deck space. Taboo accommodates 26-plus guests looked after by 40-plus crew.
