GLIPAPAS and STENO bays or (PORTO GROSSO and PORTO STRETTO) in ARKIOI

ANCHORAGE INFO:

1) Glipapas or Porto Grosso is a popular anchorage. It is the second southern one in this bay. You should find a piece of sand and drop your anchor right on it (at 3-5 m). The waters get very deep quickly (over 9 m) so you should let out plenty of chain. The cove is deep and protected from the meltemi (S/E winds), however there are strong gusts. The area is pure and isolated, only some animals are around and it is very close to the main port. The waters are clear and nice for a dive.

2) Steno or Porto Stretto is the northern bay which is very narrow (more narrow than Glipapas and also well protected. However it is shallow at its end. There is also a taverna there. Their owners have placed some small jetties where one can moor free of charge. However, it would be polite to east at least once there. Beware! The one place has depth of apx 2 m, the other two less than 2m!
