Ornos beach is situated in front of a small fishing village, which has now become a popular tourist resort, 2, 5 kilometres south of Mykonos town. It is the closest beach to the capital, with fine sand and sun beds and umbrellas for rent; it is a very beautiful beach but, unfortunately spoiled by all the shops and restaurants and usually overcrowded.

Its advantage is that is protected by the strong Meltemi (north-west wind) that is prevailing in Mykonos in the summer. However Mykonos is full of magnificient beaches, therefore Ornos is definately not one of our best choices.

Ornos is a popular anchorage for many yachters and offers quite good protection from the strong Mykonian winds.

A diving school as well as schools for sea-skiing and windsurfing are available on the beach; on the shore of the bay a huge hotel complex offers various restaurants and bars.
Ornos is reachable by local bus, frequently leaving from the capital.
