PSILI AMMOS beach in PATMOS Featured

Psili Ammos is considered as the most beautiful beach in Patmos. It is isolated, exotic, with pure golden sand and crystaline blue-azur waters. It is not organised but it has a few tamarisk trees for shade and a primitive traditional taverna with home made food, housing toilets and showers.

It is located in a picturesque uninhabited cove on the southwest coast of Patmos, apx 10 km south of Town (Chora). Being open to south/southwest winds, it has often big waves. Therefore going there with a boat or anchoring, is not very easy, unless the weather is calm. Sea taxis (fishing boats) have regular schedules from Skala's port to Psili Ammos (apx 40-60 min), when the weather is convinient.

If you don't use a boat, reaching Psili Ammos is an adventure. It needs about 20-30 min hiking, over the hills behind the beach, from Diakofti. There are also bus schedules to Diakofti. In that case, remember to wear appropiate shoes and have some water with you!

Desdpite being difficult to access, Psili Ammos is often crowded in the high season.

Nudism is not officially permitted in the holy island of Patmos, however some naturists gather on the beache's far south end.

ANCHORAGE INFO: Psili Ammos is located in the entrance of Stavros, which is a deep bay and beach (see separate listing), open from the north west part, quite protected from the north. However there is usually swell, so we do not suggest an overnight stay there. However it is worth visiting the area (mainly Psili Ammos) for swimming, when the weather is convinient. The holding is good and you may anchor on the S/W of Psili Ammos bay.
