VATHIAS beach in SKOPELOS

Vathias is a small "secret' inlet on the northeast coast of the island. It has a small beach with clear blue waters. Its location makes it vulnerable to the "meltemi" (northeast winds) that prevail in August and some days of the July.

It is accessed by road from Skopelos town, a drive of approximately twenty five minutes; most of the way on an asphalt road, with the final three kilometres on a winding dirt track, which is rough in parts. The area is rarely visited by tourists. It is wild and unspoilt, covered with thick pine forests with wonderful views from everywhere.

A little further north is the hamlet of Kaloyeras, from where there is a rough dirt track to the Neolithic tombs of Sedoukia and the highest point on the island, Mount Delphi.
