A long long beach with attractive golden sand suitable for fun, late night drinking and clubbing. Well organized with all the facilities: umbrellas, sunbeds, watersports, showers, outlets, cafes, restaurants, tavernas etc. The natural wild disappears at Agios Georgios (not to be confused with its more popular namesake in the north west) and the wildness of nightlife takes over. Paragliding and jet skis are more the order of the day here at a resort very popular with Brits. It's not as bad as nightmare Kavos, though only 20 mins away. appealing more to the middle aged and muddle brained. The northern end of the long, long, long sands is known as Issos beach while the southern end is Golden beach which merges with a string of beaches variously known as Maltas, Marathias and Santa Barbara. Agios Georgios itself has the usual popular tourist facilities, loads of tavernas and bars, karaoke , wide screen TVs and plenty of day trips and excursion from the local travel agents. A walk to the village Argirades will reward with astonishing views, lovely cafes and a taste of traditional village life. It's about 3km from the resort and offers extra amenities such as petrol station and pharmacy |
Located on the main road between Kerkyra town and Kavos, beyond the village of Argirades, turn at the large "beach" sign. The road then displays a number of unofficial signs taking you to Agios Georgios beach. Disabled access: There is a very steep slope-for wheelchairs leading to soft sand.
