The yachts have been captured next to each other for the first time.
Two of the world’s most talked-about superyachts, Motor Yacht A and Sailing Yacht A, were spotted side-by-side in the German yard Nobiskrug over the weekend. Both owned by the same owner, the event made for an amazing photo opportunity.
Motor Yacht A‘s 119 metres looked positively tiny next to the 142.8-metre bulk of Sailing Yacht A, which is set to be one of the most radical superyachts ever built. Designed as a sail-assisted superyacht, she will make for a spectacular sight when she has all three sails up. Design and exterior lines are by Philippe Stark, and she features nods to her predecessor, such as the familiar oval windows in the superstructure, and an absence of exterior side decks.
With just the bow and mid section visible at the moment, the yacht looks like she is soon going to be ready for her big reveal, following a paint job which took her from white to her current metallic grey. The removing of the scaffolding has also revealed a large swimming pool on the foredeck and the redesign of her funnels, which have gone from straight up to curved out.
Motor Yacht A has been cruising the North Sea this month, and included a stopover in the Dutch city of Rotterdam before her journey north to the yard, where she stayed for just a few days. She is returning south now, and is currently in Amsterdam.
