Editor's Note: An Insight into Exploration
Across my career, exploration has always been the primary draw. The stories of superyachts that cross the world in search of new roads and uncharted ground are the most fascinating thing to write, and this week has added a number of exciting opportunities to do so.
The Rio Olympic Games 2016 are set to start tomorrow, bringing superyachts and global elites to the shores of Brazil. So, speaking to the regional experts at Brazil Yacht Services, we found out about the chances owners and charter guests have to explore the shores of Rio to find new idyllic anchorage points.
The major announcement of the week came from DAMEN, after the first SeaXplorer superyacht was successful sold. AMELS and DAMEN joined us in 2016 for the Top 100 in London, bringing with them a scale model of the SeaXplorer 100. Since then, I’ve enjoyed following the project and can’t wait to follow the actual construction of one of the most exciting explorer projects in the world.
Furthering the notion of exploration was Titan Fleet Management, who offered us an expert insight into how to charter a superyacht for the first time. This is invaluable information, creating a more accessible avenue to the world of yachting and luxury travel.
August is usually a quiet month, with an incredible influx of activity only just around the corner; however the week in news has already proven an exemption to the rule.
As we approach the Porto Montenegro Pop-Up Superyacht Show, the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Yacht Show, stay tuned for the inevitably exciting announcements on the run-up to show season.
