Iconic 78-metre joins other Feadships at birthplace for autumn refit
The iconic 78-metre Feadship Venus – commissioned by the late Steve Jobs, designed
by Philippe Starck and launched in 2012 – has returned home to Feadship’s Makkum yard for her five-year Lloyd’s certification and various upgrades. This heralds the start of a hectic spell for the Feadship refit and service team, based in Makkum and in a new facility in nearby Harlingen.

Feadship’s team successfully completed eight significant refits in the previous season, and is preparing for the arrival of some noteworthy superyachts this autumn and winter. “Feadship owners increasingly recognise that the only way to ensure their pure custom Feadship remains a Feadship is to have major changes made by Feadship itself,” the yard says.

In addition to welcoming Venus to the yard, the craftsmen in Makkum will soon get to work on the 86-metre Ecstasea (shown above) from 2009. “The yacht’s owners have decided to have a wide range of design changes carried out in Feadship style throughout the interior,” Feadship says. Crew areas will be refreshed and an owners’ gym installed in the helicopter hangar. New exterior design features will be added.
In order to accommodate the refit of the 81-metre Air (shown above and below), Feadship is renting a suitable facility from a fellow yard. Feadship’s team will repaint the 2011 yacht’s superstructure, make adaptations to the helicopter deck and conduct a range of technical maintenance activities and upgrades.
Later this year, the yard will launch Feadship Refit and Services, a new dedicated entity that will support the refit activities of the Feadship teams in the Netherlands and abroad.
