The sun was shining on the first day of the MYBA Charter Show in Barcelona, the first time it has been held in the Spanish city. The trade-only show got progressively more busy as the afternoon wore on, and many exhibitors were encouraged by their first day on the ground, with high hopes for the rest of the week.
One company that is exhibiting is Dohle Yachts from the Isle of Man. “Our aim is to promote our services and increase our presence. We have to say it has been excellent so far, the new format in Barcelona is great, and we love seeing so many exhibitors and friends, as well as lots of new faces. We have quite a few of our yachts here already, but there are also plenty of new ones for us, which is great. We’re really impressed with the first day, we’d say a big well done to Port Vell and MYBA because it looks great!” the company says.
It’s not just management and charter companies that see the benefit of attending the show, and Neko is a prime example of that. MYBA Charter Show stalwarts, the Dutch yacht supply brand is also enjoying the relocation to Barcelona. “It’s great for us to be presented in a new environment,” says Joost van Gorsel, the general manager of Neko. “Normally we are focused in the Monaco to St Tropez area, and Spain is a great new area for us to expand into. We also just launched a new concept called One Supplier for All Your Needs, because we realised that we have the knowledge and we can be a company that caters for everything the client might need, which also has the benefit of being able to keep track of all aspects of the order more easily and lowers transport costs, so we’re happy to be able to showcase that here. So far we are enjoying the show, and there are lots of new boats, so there is great potential for the rest of the week!”
There is a host of events throughout the four days to keep attendees busy, including official yacht hops tonight and on Wednesday evening. Each day, the work of the chef on each yacht is being judged by a team of experts for the MYBA Superyacht Chefs’ Competition, of which SuperYacht World is a sponsor. The prize-giving event is on Thursday afternoon.
