The 143-metre Sailing Yacht A has been delivered by Nobiskrug. “She is one of the world’s largest and the most advanced superyachts, with unique features such as an underwater observation pod, a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and state-of-the-art navigation systems. The three masts are the tallest and most highly loaded free-standing composite structures in the world. The main mast towers 100 metres above the waterline,” the yard says.
The styling for this extraordinary and unconventional yacht is by Philippe Starck, who also designed the equally startling Motor Yacht A, which launched at Nobiskrug in 2008, and is one of SuperYacht World’sHall of Fame yachts. The yard worked closely with the owner’s project director Dirk Kloosterman. “Born from the desire of the owner to push the boundaries of engineering and challenge the status quo of the industry, Sailing Yacht A is undoubtedly one of the most visionary projects Nobiskrug has ever been involved in”, says managing director Holger Kahl.
