APOLLO'S Ancient Temple in KOLONA, AEGINA (EGINA) Featured
Apollo's Temple was on the top of Kolona's hill. (see also Aegina ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM in KOLONA).
Apollo's ancient temple is located on the top of Kolona's hill. Unfortunately the only thing left from the temple is one pillar. It was built in the 6th century b.c. had a rectangular with 11 pillars on the one side and 6 on the other.
The temple's entrance was on the southern part and two smaller were also found there. In the southeast part there was the Temple of Artemis (Artemidos). In the excavations that took place, an ancient cemetary was discovered where many tombs were found These tombs had many pieces of gold jewellery, which are now housed in the British Museum.
