ANCIENT ACROPOLIS & SETTLEMENT in LIPSI
The archaelogical findings in Lipsi include:
1) ANCIENT ACROPOLIS (S/E town): Found on the top of the hill named Kastro (Castle). There are remainings of ancient buildings, walls etc.
2) ANCIENT SETTLEMENT in KOUSSELIO area. There are remainings of an ancient settlement which was developped at the classical, Greek Roman and old-christain eras until the 7th century a.d. One may see the remains of an early christian basilica church (5th century) at the site where now is the church of Virgin Mary of Kousselio (Panagia). One may now see a mosaic flooring and a stone skript on the churche's wall. There are also remains of an olive press, buildings, shells, walls etc.
